STORIES GLASGOW Harbor
Glasgow Harbor is a part of a 10 year regeneration project. The site situated in the vibrant west end of Glasgow, on the banks of both the River Clyde and the River Kelvin, is one of the UK’s largest water front regenerations in the UK and will play a large part in the growth of Scotland’s economy.
The design ethic behind the lighting structures was to provide a concept that compliments the form of the bridge with ambient light being diffused with the use of two projectors and two reflectors complimented with the addition of a LED top part.
At the foot of each column is a date marker in the history of the harbor, with the bridge as a date line. The height of each column is representative of the amount of harbor activity at each date, giving a wave-form for the column tops punctuated by each LED beacon. Working with the designer each column situated on the bridge is of different height and in turn diameter to ensure a complementing aesthetical impact with the bridge form being a focal point and a fundamental element of the design brief.
THE RESULT
A bespoke solution that accents the sites main attraction creating a feel good space for tourists and residents alike.
